Commitment
Accessibility Statement
I am committed to ensuring that heyheath.com is accessible to all visitors, including people with disabilities. I believe that everyone deserves equal access to information about homeownership and real estate services, regardless of ability.
Standards
This Site is designed to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines are developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and represent the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility.
Measures Taken
The following accessibility features have been implemented across this Site:
Structure & Navigation
- Semantic HTML — Proper use of headings, landmarks, lists, and form labels to ensure content is meaningful to assistive technologies
- Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements (links, buttons, form controls, menus) are fully operable using a keyboard alone
- Skip link — A “Skip to content” link is provided at the top of every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation
- Focus indicators — All focusable elements display a visible focus outline (gold border) that meets WCAG 2.2 focus appearance requirements
Visual Design
- Color contrast — Text and interactive elements maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds, meeting WCAG AA requirements
- Target size — Interactive elements (buttons, links, form controls) maintain a minimum target size of 44×44 CSS pixels, meeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA target size requirements
- Responsive design — The Site adapts to all screen sizes and supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
Accessibility Panel
A dedicated accessibility panel is available via the button in the bottom-left corner of every page. The panel provides the following controls:
- Text size customization — Adjust font size between 14px and 20px with preferences saved across sessions
- High contrast mode — Increases color contrast for improved readability
- Reduced motion — Disables animations and transitions for users who prefer reduced motion (also respects the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting) - Reading guide — A horizontal highlight bar that follows your mouse cursor to help track lines of text
- Link highlighting — Adds visible outlines around all links to make them easier to identify
Assistive Technology Compatibility
This Site has been designed to be compatible with:
- Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
Known Limitations
While I strive for full accessibility, some content may have limitations:
- Third-party content (embedded maps, social media widgets) may not fully meet accessibility standards
- Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible
I am actively working to address any known issues and improve accessibility on an ongoing basis.
